Pretty much like the US Independence Day (4th of July). Too much food, too much sun and too much drink (for some) followed by pretty lights in the sky.

There is also the Australia Day tradition of Big Day Out if you are a Melbournian... It is a BIG secular music festival!
And there is also the tradition of Triple J's hottest 100 countdown... where they countdown the top 100 songs of the previous year... Usually this is listened to whilst you are at a BBQ!

Apparently there are some PC Boardies that are bogans. I know that Jase and Jono listen to the JJJ countdown. I've listened to bits of the countdown online a couple times.

I am then also a bogan... I don't listen to Triple J all the time throughout the year, BUT I love listening to the countdown!

This was the first year I ever actually listened to the countdown. Wasn't impressed. But other then that I went to the flag raising ceremony down near the river, then went to another part of the river and hung out with some of the youth all after noon, playing cricket in the river and drinking solo. Oh...and getting sunburnt  Good fun!
